There are steps parents can take so that they can instill healthy eating habits without turning mealtimes into an ordeal .If you encourage healthy eating habits now, you will make a great impact on your children’s relationship with food and make them grow into healthy and confident adults.
Children prefer foods they enjoy the most. So here the main challenge is to make healthy choices appealing. However, you should ensure that your child’s diet is as nutritious as possible, even while allowing them to have sometime their favorite foods.

It’s important you act as a role model for your children. You should not ask your child to eat fruit and vegetables while you hog on potato chips and soda.

Tips for healthy eating

• Dinner should be served around the same time every night. Sitting down with the whole family for meals enhances appetite. Breakfast is also a time for a family meal.
• Eating home cooked food is healthy for the family .Eating meals at restaurants tend to have more fat, sugar, and salt. You should dine out at special occasions.
• Parents should encourage children help them in shopping for groceries, choosing what should be in their lunch box, and preparing meals. It also gives you chance to teach them about the nutritional values of different foods, and teach them to read food labels.
• Keep fruits, vegetables, healthy snacks, and beverages around so that children reach for healthy foods instead of empty calorie snacks like soda, chips, or cookies.
• Don’t force your child to eat, and never bribe your child with food.

By teaching your children to eat healthy, you can help your children maintain healthy weight and normal growth. Good eating habits will help them have a healthy lifestyle even when they are adults.

Get your child’s weight and height evaluated by a pediatrician .This will give you an idea whether your child needs to lose or gain weight or if any changes in diet, needs to be done.
One of the important aspects of healthy eating is portion control checking how much fat your child is eating. Ways to limit fat intake in your child's diet and promote healthy weight include serving:
